We wouldn’t be that original if we presented the harmonic coexistence of mountains and sea as the major advantage of Achaia’s land. In Achaia, this kind of coexistence offers visitors some marvellous succession of landscapes and many challenges.

The Region of Achaia is a place worth visiting 365 days a year. It is doused by sea across a coastline of 125 klm. There are dozen of beaches- crowded or isolated to visit. Beaches of all kinds (with sand, pebbles, stones, rocks) and of all tastes (sunbathing, swimming, fishing, diving, sailing, windsurfing).

As a natural barrier protecting the coast, there stand the unique mountain chains of the region. Its marvellous mountains, Helmos, Erymanthos, Panachaiko and the lower ones, such as Afrodisio, Klokos, Skiadovouni, Skolis and Movri. With interesting flora and fauna, with lots of suggestions to mountaineers, hikers, friends of sailplanes, skiers, friends of snow, kayakers, and rafting lovers. The most basic trees one might come across with in the beautiful forests of our region are firs, pines, sycamores, oaks and stone pines. In Achaia’s region one can see most species of bushes and uncultivated trees that breed in Greece. In many points between sea and mountain there are some really green champagnes, such as the lowland of Western Achaia with its great variety of cereals’ and vegetables’ gardening.

Biotopes, different kinds of forests, the unique pine forest of Strofilia (which is protected by Ramsar capitulation), the forest of Kaniska, the Prokopos lake, and the lake of Tsivlos, the magnificent lake of Ladonas, the Papas lagoon, the impressive canyon of Vouraikos, those beautiful places offer visitors a wide range of accessible areas of special natural beauty.

Rivers, lakes and hundreds of springs at the Northern part of the region, provide our Region with good quality, potable water. You can dauntlessly trust tap water wherever you are in Achaia.
