Sailing

Sailing experts consider Patraikos Gulf as one of the most ideal areas for sailing sallies due to the air currents without intense waving.
10 local sailing contests per year are organised by the Sailing Association of Patras (I.O.P.), while at the beginning of each August there is a ‘Sailing Week’ established with international participations.

There is an open sea school with 30 and 34 feet sailing boats and an Olympic Triangle School for Optimist (over 6 years), Laser Europe and 4,7 metres’ boats.

Windsurfing

By the end of 70’s, the first "windsurfers" started appearing at Achaia’s beaches. Today, windsurfing in Achaia has gained a great deal of friends, mainly due to the very good weather conditions of the region.

The intensity of winds and the extended sunlight make most of Achaia’s beaches ideal for windsurfers.

However, the most interesting and attractive beach is the one of EOT’s, in Patras, and the beach of Drepano as well. For experienced windsurfers, there is "Mayri Myti" beach at Araxos area (with strong eastern winds) as well as Alyki beach in Aigio (with western-south western winds).

Diving

Panagopoula Beach is not only known for its pure crystal waters but as a meeting point of all those who wish to explore the secrets of the sea. In Patras, there are numerous schools for all those who wish to find out the secrets of diving.

Beach Volley

Every sandy beach of Western Achaia is suitable for beachvolley. Nevertheless, the best beach suitable for beach volley is Kalogria Beach, where Municipality of Larissos organises every year "beach-volley" contests.

Fishing

Owners of boats welcome to the ideal place!! Several natural ponds are available for longline and net fishing. Also some beaches, especially those of Aigiras and Alykes Kato Achaias, where waters are quite deep, are suitable, so you can enjoy your hobby. The same area is considered to be a heaven-on-earth for all gun-fishers, due to the depth of the sea and to the rocky points.
