Parachuting

Either in an amateur way or professionally flight at the sky of Achaia is really attractive. There is a wide range of choice if you decided to do parachuting. Achaia has many suitable for parachuting locations.
Information:
Parachuting Friends Club (founded in 1990 with more than 100 active members). It is a member of Greek Air-Athletic Conferrence and it comes under General Secretariat of Athletics (tel. 2610 621494). We have pinpointed the major Air Athletic fields.

We suggest:

Santameri

A mountain chain 6-klm long, with ideal conditions for sailplane from May to October. Every year, many contests take place in Santameri and the highest score (more than 40 klm) has been achieved there. Hypsometrical distance is 28- metres and since 1999 there is an Aerathletic Centre of Santameri (tel 6977 674080) providing sailplane chances to beginners and proficients. Santameri is 35 klm far from Patras.]

Skiada

Hypsometrical distance being around 800 metres and 58 klm away from Patras, Skiadovouni Mountain is ideal for sailplanes from May to October. Skiadovouni is ideal for long distant routes, the highest being over 50 klm. Just like in Santameri, there are lots of contests taking place in Skiadovouni as well.

Panachaiko

Ideal for sailplanes from May to October, the mountain is 10 klm far from Patras and its hypsometrical difference is around 800 metres.

Gianniskari

Ideal for flights above sea, Gianniskari is situated at Araxos’cape, is 30 klm away from Patras and its hypsometrical distance is around 100 metres. Best period is from May to October with sea aura being ideal for such flights.

Erymanthos

It’s 45 klm away from Patras and it is situated clos to Alonia aerea of Kaletzi village. Its hypsometrical difference is around 950 metres. Ideal period is from May to October.

Kalavryta

Takeoffs at Ski Centre of Kalavryta, where antennas are, heading either towards the valley of Lousoi, or Kalavryta and Iroo.
